The surgeon behind the practice

Nine years of standing beside families during the hardest conversation a home can have.

Dr. Harshit Patel — MS General Surgery (Gold Medalist), M.Ch Surgical Oncology from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai — brings apex-institute training to Ahmedabad and Vadodara, delivered at human scale.

“તમે એકલા નથી.” (You are not alone.)

In his own words

Why cancer surgery — and why here?

“I chose surgical oncology because it is the one specialty where you meet people at their most frightened — and where skill, honesty and time can genuinely change the ending of their story.”

Training at Tata Memorial Hospital teaches two things at once: the highest technical standard in the country, and humility — because you operate beside masters and still see how much depends on listening. On judgement. On doing the right operation for the right patient, not the impressive one.

After nine years and more than five thousand operations across nine specialities, my conviction has only grown: patients don't remember your publications. They remember whether someone finally explained the disease in their own language — Gujarati, Hindi or English — whether the plan made sense, and whether the phone was answered when the worry came at midnight.

That is the practice I have built here: reports explained over chai if that helps, diagrams drawn until the whole family understands, and honesty even when the honest answer is “no surgery.” That's how I would want my own people treated.

“Treating the person,
not just the cancer.”

કેન્સર સાથે લડવાનું નથી — જીવન પાછું મેળવવાનું છે.

(Not fighting cancer — reclaiming life.) Voice, appearance, dignity and the life that comes after are preserved as carefully as the margins themselves.
