Nine years of standing beside people on the hardest crossing of their lives.
Dr. Harshit Patel — MS General Surgery (Gold Medalist), M.Ch Surgical Oncology from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai — brings apex-institute training to Ahmedabad and Vadodara, delivered at a human pace.
In his own words — as told over tea, not a podium.
Cancer surgery chose him.
The calm part was a decision.
“I chose surgical oncology because it is the one specialty where you meet people at their most frightened — and where skill, honesty and time can genuinely change the ending of the story.”
Training at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai — India’s premier cancer institute — teaches two things at once: the highest technical standard in the country, and humility. Because you operate beside masters and still see how much depends on listening first, staging properly, and doing the right operation for the right patient rather than the impressive one.
Nine years and more than five thousand operations later, one conviction has only deepened: patients rarely remember your publications. They remember whether someone finally explained the disease in their own language — Gujarati, Hindi or English — whether the plan made sense when they walked out, and whether the phone was answered when it mattered.
That is the practice he has built in Ahmedabad and Vadodara: unhurried consultations, plain words, organ preservation wherever safely possible, and honesty as policy — including saying “no surgery is needed” when that is the truest advice.
“Treating the person,
not just the cancer.”
