The surgeon

Nine years of standing on the right side of the hardest conversation a family can have.

Dr. Harshit Patel — MS (Gold Medalist), M.Ch Surgical Oncology (Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai) — brings apex-institute training to Ahmedabad and Vadodara, delivered at human scale and explained in your language until it makes sense.

In his own words

Why cancer surgery — and why here?

“I chose surgical oncology because it is the one specialty where you meet people at their most frightened — and where skill, honesty and time can genuinely change how their story ends.”

Training at Tata Memorial Hospital teaches two things at once: the highest technical standard in the country, and humility — because you operate beside masters and still see how much outcome depends on listening. On judgement. On doing the right operation for the right patient, not the impressive one.

The philosophy that survived nine years and five thousand operations is simple to say and hard to keep: treat organ and person together. A voice box is not just tissue. A breast is not just anatomy. A kidney, a limb, a sphincter muscle — each one carries a life inside it, so preservation is pursued wherever oncology safely allows, and minimally invasive techniques are chosen when they serve the patient rather than the portfolio.

And communication is treatment too. Every report is explained in Gujarati, Hindi or English, line by line, diagrams included, family welcome — because fear shrinks exactly as fast as understanding grows. Including, when it is true, hearing the words “surgery is not your answer” said kindly and early.

“ચિંતા નહીં — સારવાર પર ધ્યાન આપીએ.” Not worry — focus on the treatment together.
