The surgeon behind the sky

Nine years spent returning mornings to families across Gujarat.

Dr. Harshit Patel — MS (Gold Medalist), M.Ch Surgical Oncology from Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai — brings apex-institute training to Ahmedabad and Vadodara, delivered at human scale: unhurried consultations, honest plans, surgery measured in lives resumed.

In his own words

Why cancer surgery — and why here?

“I chose surgical oncology because it is the specialty where you meet people at their most frightened — and where skill, honesty and time can genuinely change how the story ends.”

Training at Tata Memorial Hospital teaches two things at once: the country’s highest technical standard, and humility — because you operate beside masters and still learn that outcomes depend as much on listening as on technique. On doing the right operation for the right patient, not the impressive one.

After nine years and more than five thousand operations across nine specialities, one conviction has only hardened: patients don’t remember your degrees afterwards. They remember whether someone finally explained the disease in their own language — Gujarati, Hindi or English — whether the plan made sense, and whether the phone was answered when complications came at midnight.

That is the practice I have built across Ahmedabad and Vadodara: treat the person, not just the cancer; preserve voice, breast, kidney and limb wherever oncology safely allows; and never sell an operation that won’t serve the patient’s life afterwards.
