Why cancer surgery — and why here?

Training at Tata Memorial Hospital teaches two things at once: the highest technical standard in the country, and humility — because you operate beside masters and still see how much outcomes depend on listening. On judgement. On doing the right operation for the right patient, not the impressive one.

After nine years and more than five thousand operations across nine specialities, my conviction has only grown: patients do not remember your publications. They remember whether someone finally explained the disease in their own language, whether the plan made sense, and whether the phone was answered when complications came at midnight.

A monitor reassures because it shows one honest number. That is the practice I have built in Ahmedabad and Vadodara — hope you can verify, plans you can picture.
